The EU budget for 2021-2027 has a total of €1,211 billion. These resources will stimulate economic, social, and territorial growth, promoting development in regions that are still lagging behind others. During the mid-term review, the 2021-2027 MFF was reinforced by €64.6 billion to finance key priorities such as support for Ukraine, migration, and external action.

Italy is among the main member countries benefiting from the European financial envelope and has access to over €42 billion in structural funds, a significant portion of which is earmarked to support innovation, the healthcare system, and digitalization.

A research and innovation program with a total budget of €95.5 billion. Structured into three pillars and a cross-cutting program, it covers various areas of intervention, including climate change, health, and industrial innovation.

The main financing instrument dedicated to the environment and climate, with a budget of €5.43 billion. It is divided into four subprograms: Nature and Biodiversity, Circular Economy, and Climate Adaptation.
